Privacy Policy
How we collect, use and protect the personal information you give us, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Easy Funerals respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can access or correct it.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
We know that when you contact us you are often dealing with something very difficult, and that you are sharing details about someone you have lost as well as about yourself. We treat all of it carefully.
What personal information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Your contact details — name, phone number, email address, and the state or territory you are in.
- Details about the funeral you are arranging — whether you are considering cremation or burial, the type of service you want, dates, locations and any particular wishes.
- Information about the person who has died — their name, dates of birth and death, place of death, and information required by law to register the death and to arrange a cremation or burial. Some of this may be health information, such as cause of death.
- Information about other family members — where you give it to us so that we can contact them or include them in arrangements.
- Payment information — where you pay us for services. We do not store full card numbers.
- Correspondence — notes of what you have asked us and what we have agreed, so that whoever you speak to next already knows.
We only collect what we reasonably need in order to arrange a funeral or answer your enquiry.
Information you give us about other people
If you give us personal information about somebody else — a family member, an executor, a person who has died — please make sure you are entitled to do so. Where it is reasonable and practicable, we will take steps to let that person know we hold their information and why.
How we collect it
We usually collect personal information directly from you:
- through the forms on this website;
- when you call or email us;
- in person or over the phone while arrangements are being made.
Sometimes we collect information from other people or organisations, for example from a hospital, aged care home, doctor, coroner, executor or another family member, where that is necessary to arrange the funeral.
Why we use it
We use personal information to:
- respond to your enquiry and give you a quote;
- arrange and carry out the funeral you have asked for;
- complete the paperwork the law requires, including registering the death;
- book and coordinate with crematoria, cemeteries, celebrants and other suppliers;
- take payment and keep proper financial records;
- keep records we are required by law to keep; and
- deal with any complaint or question you raise afterwards.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it to send you marketing unless you have asked us to, and if you ever do receive something from us you can opt out at any time.
Who we disclose it to
To arrange a funeral we usually have to share some information with others. Depending on what you have asked for, that may include:
- Crematoria and cemeteries, to book and carry out the cremation or burial.
- Government registries, such as the relevant Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, to register the death and obtain certificates.
- Doctors, coroners, hospitals and aged care facilities, to obtain the medical certification a cremation or burial requires.
- Celebrants, clergy, florists, caterers, musicians, stonemasons and venues, where you have asked us to arrange them.
- Newspapers and online notice providers, if you have asked us to place a death or funeral notice.
- Our professional advisers, such as accountants, auditors and lawyers.
- Anyone else you have asked or authorised us to share it with.
We may also disclose personal information where we are required or authorised to do so by law.
Our website
This website is a set of static pages. It does not use advertising cookies, and it does not run analytics or tracking scripts.
When you submit one of the forms on this site, the details you enter are sent through Web3Forms, a third-party form-delivery service, which passes them on to us by email. Web3Forms operates outside Australia, including in the United States, so by submitting a form you consent to your details being disclosed overseas for that purpose. If you would rather not use the form, you are very welcome to call or email us instead.
Our web host keeps standard server logs, which may include IP addresses, for security and diagnostic purposes.
Storing and protecting your information
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. That includes restricting access to those who need it, and holding electronic records in secured systems.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will respond in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, which may include notifying you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes described above, and for as long as we are required to keep it by law. Records relating to funerals, deaths and financial transactions are subject to minimum retention periods that vary between states and territories. When we no longer need information and are not required to keep it, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct it if it is wrong, out of date or incomplete.
Contact us using the details at the bottom of this page. We will usually respond within 30 days. There is no charge for making a request, though we may charge a reasonable fee for the cost of giving access in some circumstances. If we cannot give you access or make a correction, we will explain why in writing.
Making a complaint
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please tell us first. Contact us using the details below and set out what has happened. We will acknowledge your complaint, investigate it, and respond to you in writing — usually within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can take the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):
